Valentina Ortiz is an actress, writer, musician and storyteller.
Her passions are drums from every part of world, as well as indigenous
languages. She plays with words,
creating stories that take us straight to the dream world and she makes us laugh
and dance to the rhythms of her drum.
She began her acting career in 1977 and worked both in Mexico and
the United States. In 1993, Valentina started to work as a percussionist in
various orchestras, tropical music and swing groups, as well as in
Afro-Caribbean and Mexican folk music ensembles. In 2000 Valentina joined the
group "The Factory, dance, theater and other crazy ideas”. With them she
presented the successful play Bigu the turtle, for which she wrote the music.
Since 2003, she has presented Dream Soup (Caldo de sueños), a show for
voice and percussion, in different forums of the country. She also started as a
storyteller with the group Se cuenta (It is told) and the national
project Traveling Tales. In 2008, she published her first book, Stories for an
Ameyal. |
