In 2007, Miguel Del Real became the first conductor to be invited twice to
the prestigious Master Course in Conducting at the Lucerne Festival.
Chosen by Pierre Boulez (2005) and Peter Eötvös (2007), he conducted,
under their tutelage, some of the largest-scale XX century works as
Varese’s Amériques and Stockhausen’s Gruppen, for 3 Orchestras. He was
invited for the third time to Luzern, by Bernard Haitink to take part in
his master class, last February, 2009.
Having been praised in different international forums, Del Real has raised
as one of the most complete conductors of the new generation, having had
the opportunity to work with some of the most renowned conductors in the
Concertgebouw of Amsterdam, the Lucerne Culture Center, the Berlin
Philharmonie, just as in the main Opera Houses and Festivals in Paris,
Berlin and Italy.
Composer and musicologist as well, he has conducted since 2002 Symphony
Orchestras, Ensembles and Choirs as Janacek Philharmonic Ostrava (Czech
Republic), Monte Carlo Philharmonic, l’Orchestre d’Auvergne, l’Orchestre
et Choir des Lauréats du Conservatoire de Paris, Le Court Circuit Ensemble
(Paris), Kosmopolitan Ensemble Berlin, London Steve Reich Ensemble,
Cappella Miranda, Pro-Arte Symphony Orchestra of Mexico City, among many
others. Since 2003 he is chief conductor and founder of the Nederlands
Nieuwe Muziek Groep.
He has received diplomas as the master´s degree in Orchestra Conducting
from The Conservatorium van Amsterdam, (prof. Lucas Vis), as well as other
titles in Choir and Orchestral Conducting, Composition and Musicology from
the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague, Paris Conservatoire, Istituto
Pontificio di Musica Sacra di Roma, and Instituto Cardenal Miranda in
Mexico. His repertoire goes from XV Century Polyphony to the XXI century
including the music of the youngest generation of composers, having
premiered more than 50 new compositions including Thomas Myrmel´s Opera Le
Voisin (Co-premiere with Lucas Vis, Melkweg Theater, Amsterdam 2006).
Since his return to Mexico in June 2009, Miguel Salmon Del Real has conducted the Sonora State Philharmonic, Hidalgo University Symphony Orchestra, Coyoacan Symphony Orchestra, Zacatecas Youth Symphony Orchestra, Superior School of Music Symphony Orchestra and Choir, as well as Tempus Fugit Ensemble. He is Principal Conductor for Ensamble Nuevo de Mexico and Xicamiti Ensemble. Also, he is Assistant Conductor for the Superior School of Music Symphony Orchestra and program coordinator for the Manuel Enriquez International New Music Forum.
