Our main objective is to provide the audience an innovative, refined and emotive performance of Tango music, which in the last few years has reached a major peak and acceptance among the Mexican public. Entretango explores the fusion between Tango and other music genres such as Mexican music. Through our instruments, the ensemble seeks to show how a group of Mexican young musicians understands, performs and adds their own elements to this Argentine music genre which dates from the beginning of the Twentieth Century, but that for the last decades has gone through a booming growth all over the world.

Entretango is an ensemble made up by Mexican musicians with successfully performances in different stages in Mexico City and other Mexican states as well as concerts for Mexican radio and television broadcasts.

In May 2005, Entretango was the prizewinner of the sixth contest of chamber music of the National School of Music. In 2006, the ensemble was awarded the “Arts everywhere” (Artes por todas Partes) scholarship by the Mexico City Government; in 2007 Entretango was a participant in the fourth Diego Rivera Festival for independent record labels. In 2008 Entretango was invited to perform several concerts in the International College Music Festival in (FIMU) in Belfort, France; in 2009 they participated during the First Festival of Sciences, Arts and Humanities in Baja California, Mexico, as well as for the “Fall in the Lakes Festival in Lagos de Moreno, Jalisco, Mexico.

Entretango has performed with great success in various concert halls of Mexico, such as Xochipilli Concert hall of the National School of Music, Blas Galindo Concert hall, Mural Diego Rivera Museum, Carlos Chavez music hall, Ollin Yolliztli Arts Center, the Metropolitan Sacrarium Hall, and different auditoriums of the National University of Mexico (UNAM) in cities like Queretaro and Taxco; in the Arts halls “Casa del Lago” and “Maestro Juan José Arreola” as well as performances in the series of “Fridays in the open-air” at the National University Cultural Center. Besides, Entretango has been invited to play for the University Cultural Center of San Nicolás de Hidalgo University in Michoacán, and Melchor Ocampo Theater in Morelia.

Luis Gutierrez

Mexican violinist, graduated from the National School of Music of the National University of Mexico under the tutelage of the professor Savarhtasiddh Uribe.

He is a founding member of Entretango. Luis has taken several continuing-education courses with Renaud Capucon, Natalia Grodtziezkaya and Dimitri Zemtzov.

In 2007 he was part of and performed with the Steve Skaith Band in its European Tour.


Sergio Robledo

He performed his higher music education specialized in accordion in the National School of Music of the National University of Mexico with the professor Iduna Tuch. He is a summa cum laude graduate and was granted the “Gabino Barreda” Prize.

He has studied continuing improvement courses in Austria with the professor Friederich Lips, a internationally remarkable accordionist, as well as with the accordionist Eva Shollner in Mexico City.


He has performed as a soloist in various music halls in Mexico City; Sergio has actively participated in theater projects and, together with Luis, he is a founding member of Entretango.

Rodrigo Rivera

Rodrigo began his guitar studies at the age of 12 and he obtained his music degree from the National School of Music of the National University of Mexico under the tutelage of the professor Alejandro Salcedo. He has played with several bands whose genres range from jazz, funk, flamenco, rock to classical music; he has performed numerous recitals in Mexico City as well.


He has attended several master classes provided by professors Redmond O´toole (Ireland), Andrea Causapruna (Italy) and Víctor Villadangos (Argentina); Rodrigo has attended as well different jazz and guitar harmony seminars provided by Alfredo Rovelo and Miguel Ordoñez.

Carlos Rangel

He performed his double-bass studies in the National School of Music of the National University of Mexico with the professor Mario Martínez, a remarkable double-bass executants graduated from the Conservatory of Santa Cecilia in Rome, Italy.

He was part of the Youth Symphony Orchestra of Mexico, and of the Symphony Orchestra of the National School of Music (Mexico); in both of these orchestras he performed as the leading bass within the string section.


He was a contestant participant in the second “Puebla Instrumenta Verano” Contest and the “Texas Music Festival” (Houston). He has taken master classes with professors Evgeni Kolosov and Eric Larson, among others.

At present, he is a member of the Symphony Orchestra of Minería (Mexico) as well as the double bass player in Entretango.

Carlos Matus

Carlos is a pianist and composer from Veracruz, Mexico. He graduated from the Superior School of Music of the National Institute of Fine Arts. He has performed as a soloist with the Strings Orchestra of the Superior School of Music conducted by Christian Gohmer and Richard Markson.


In commemoration of the 40th anniversary of artistic career of the choreographer Alejandro Schwartz, Carlos wrote “Composiciones sobre 5 sones jarochos” (“Compositions on 5 jarocho sones”) were first performed in 2008, accompanied by the choreography of the above referenced Alejandro Schwartz. The performance was mounted and played live by the Folcklásico Trio, formed by Alfonso Pacheco, Salomón Guerrero y Carlos Gómez Matus along with the Dance Company “Módulo”.

In 2009, Carlos was granted a scholarship by the programm “Stimulus for the creation and artistic development of Veracruz, through which he created “DanZSones” a composition based on traditional music from Veracruz made up by a series pieces for violin, cello and piano. Carlos performs the piano for the “Ensemble Nuevo de México” (New Ensamble of Mexico) conducted by Miguel Salmon del Real, and plays also with “Entretango”. In both ensembles he participates as a composer as well.
