Eleanor Weingartner’s lyricism and tonal control really shine.... In the Spohr Sechs deutsche Lieder [...] the artistry of all three musicians is captivating. Weingartner amazes in the concerto-like passage work in the odd-numbered songs.
The Clarinet, September, 2009

I admired the Rivera-Weingartner-Carver take on [the clarinet songs] as much as any I have heard. [...] The Rivera-Weingartner-Carver CD is a delight from start to finish, and a rare achievement.
High Fidelity, May/June, 2009

Weingartner is [...] a virtuoso, commanding and totally in control of her instrument. [...] In Six German Songs by Sphor, she expertly matches the varied nuances of the singer.
Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, February 5, 2009

The clarinetist, Weingartner, in “The Abyss of the Birds” (in Messiaen’s Quartet for the End of Time) [...] showed her true virtuosity [...] What she achieved in this movement, dedicated entirely to her instrument, was simply miraculous. She achieved wonders with its nuances and handled the dynamics breathtakingly.
El Norte (Monterrey), September 15, 2008

Eleanor Weingartner, is an American clarinetist who lives in Mexico City and has been principal clarinet of the Orquesta Sinfonica Nacional (OSN) since 1990. She has also served as principal clarinet in La Camerata de las Americas, and the Orquesta Sinfonica de Guadalajara. As soloist, she has appeared with the OSN—including the Mexico City premiere of Eduardo Gamboa’s clarinet concerto—as well as with the Orquesta del Estado de Mexico, Orquesta de Camera de Bellas Artes, Filarmónica de Querétaro, the Festival Mozart-Haydn Orchestra, and the orchestras of Guanajuato and Monterrey. Ms. Weingartner can be heard on numerous recordings by the OSN and La Camerata.

Ms Weingartner has also had an extensive career as chamber musician. As a member of Trio Neos (clarinet, bassoon, and piano) and as a founding member of the wind octet, Sinfonietta Ventus, she has concertized in Mexico, the United States, Canada, Europe, Russia, and Latin America. Ms Weingartner has recorded the Mozart and Brahms clarinet quintets with the St. Louis-based Arianna String Quartet on the Urtext label. In 2008, Urtext also released her compact disc of music for soprano, clarinet and piano—with works by Schubert and Spohr as well as newer compositions by Golijov, Krouse and Salazar. In addition, she can be heard on two compact discs with Trio Neos and a further three with Sinfonietta Ventus. In addition to her career as chamber musician, she has given numerous solo recitals.

As a teacher, Ms. Weingartner has served on the faculty of the University of Pittsburgh and currently teaches at the Orquesta Sinfonica Juvenil de Mexico. Her own undergraduate degrees are from Oberlin College and the Oberlin Conservatory and for her Master in Music, she studied with Robert Marcellus at Northwestern University. She also studied with Clark Brody, formerly principal clarinet of the Chicago Symphony; Leon Russianoff of the Julliard School; Guy Deplus of the Paris Conservatory; and Kalmen Opperman, former Principal Clarinet of the American Ballet Theater.

Weingartner, whose clean playing [in the Mozart and Brahms clarinet quintets] is enhanced by a focused and fluid tone quality [...] [Her] interpretation of the Adagio movement [of the Brahms] is especially lovely, featuring excellent control and tonal consistency
throughout the registers of the instrument.
The Clarinet, December 2004
